Cabarete is famous for wind sports and was actually discovered by windsurfers in the 1980s. Then it was just a small fishing village, but Cabarete expanded quickly due to its perfectly consistent winds and miles of coastline. Decades later, the local vibe is still centred around water sports and adventure and there are many kite schools offering lessons with fully certified instructors and top of the line equipment.
Surfing
One of the best breaks in the Dominican Republic is located just a 5 minute walk away from your door at Ocean Palms. Enjoy small beginner-friendly waves in the summer and in the fall and winter expect larger swells as storms roll through the North Atlantic and send picture perfect waves onto our coastline.
